Carly Sheil

I'm a Townsville-based graphic designer and illustrator. I majored in illustration at James Cook University, with a 6 month overseas exchange at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. After interning for local Artist-Run-Initiative Artspaced Inc under then-director Jeanette Hutchinson, I went on to work as a Trainee and now full-time graphic designer at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville, where I have worked for 5 years.

I balanced my day job with personal creative work, as well as by continuing to volunteer under Jeanette Hutchinson, with whom I was now working with alongside a team of old and new to run Artgaze Lab Inc and publish Artgaze Magazine. Supplementing this, I have also been volunteering with Dragons Eye Productions, the team behind Guinness World Record-holding and long-running Online Social Game (MMOSG) Furcadia, aiding them across multiple areas including art, graphics and website updating.

I aim always to do my best and help as many people as possible, in places where I feel my time is best spent. I'm always learning, and always trying to solve problems that haven't been thought of before. This means I'm a highly varied designer and illustrator by nature.
